What is the label I see on some of NLM's journal issues?

The label is automatically generated by our acquisitions system. The date on the label is the date a print issue was checked in. After check in, the issues are sent to be added to the collection. If the title is indexed, then the Indexing Section processes the issue and makes citations available to the public through MEDLINE.

The date on the label is the check in date only. NLM cannot provide any legal declarations or affidavits that state when an item in the collection was first publicly available.
