The National Institutes of Health IT supports Google log in for use of NIH resources, including NLM's DOCLINE, via their iTrust user authentication portal.

We recommend that DOCLINE participants who are unable to create a Google account (even without Gmail) work with local IT support to get an exemption for Google authentication for use with DOCLINE.

Users affiliated with research organizations can log in using their university or workplace network credentials (email address) that match their established DOCLINE username, provided that their institution is an NIH federated research partner and a member of InCommon.

Login.gov is also listed as an option on the NIH Sign In portal; for more information, please refer to Login.gov’s Help resources. Federal libraries can log in with their CAC or PIV card that matches their established DOCLINE username, and NIH staff have the option to use internal network credentials (username and password).

Please note that unsupported methods, such as Microsoft and PayPal, may work but have not been tested, could produce unpredictable results, and are not recommended.

If you need further information or assistance with this process, please contact NLM.
