If you see a Permission Denied message including a username
like this:

98712634@mil

instead of a normally formatted email like this:

Elspeth.Dewey.civ@mail.mil,

this may be happening because your CAC (smart ID card) is new or has been updated and no longer includes the appropriate certificate(s) to transmit your email address to DOCLINE as expected.

NLM suggests these resolution steps:

  1. Create a Login.gov account with military email address for use with DOCLINE instead.
  2. Submit request to RML or NLM to clear prior log in method from your DOCLINE user account.
  3. Use a Login.gov account with Research Organization log in (see DOCLINE log in steps for how to).

NOTE: If your Login.gov account does not use the email address that matches your DOCLINE username you must request a new DOCLINE account that matches your Login.gov account.
