You can link your GenBank submissions that you make in Submission Portal GenBank (SP-GenBank) to related SRA data under the same BioProject (see a BioProject example).

This article is for GenBank submitters who:

  • Have assembled sequences eligible for submission in SP-GenBank
  • Used next-generation sequencing technologies

AND

  • Also plan to deposit related reads to Sequence Read Archive (SRA)

This page first addresses linking new GenBank and SRA submissions (Case 1). It further instructs on how to retroactively link your accessioned GenBank sequences with your other data (Case 2).

Case 1: You are preparing to submit to SRA and GenBank

1. Submit to SRA and register BioProject and BioSamples during submission

2. Submit to GenBank and provide the BioProject/BioSample/SRA accession numbers during submission

Case 2: You already have GenBank accessions

If you submitted to GenBank without linking to the corresponding SRA data during SP-GenBank submission, you can still do it retroactively.
